Hi Hald,

Thanks for her names, it made it possible to find just a little bit more on her.

She was built as a ketch rigged sailing barge (Segelschute). Under her first name MARIA she was homeported at Elmshorn until 1913 and then at Hamburg until 1961. Her next homeport and name was AABENRAA until 1963. No years are given for the next changes. Hundested was her homeport when named HANS WITTHOEFT and STOREBJERG. As MERETE-LIS she had Karrebæksminde and Næstved as her homeports (ports of registry).

In the years after 1952 her deck was laid higher in Denmark for increasing her loading capacity.

My source is: "Deutsche Segelschiffe" a register of still existing (former) sailing vessels in the years 1980 to 1986, compiled by Joachim Kaiser. At the time of publishing MERETE-LIS was used as a stone fishing vessel.

Regards,
Werner
