In the St.Lawrence Seaway on January 1st off La Prairie, ORSULA, the last freighter to transit . The Seaway closed a few hours later with the downbound transit of three tugs and the icebreaker Martha L. Black.Only once before, the Seaway had closed so late in the season. That was on Jan. 1, 1985 with the transit of Steelcliffe Hall. It will reopened on or about March 22.
