To add another couple of twists:

IHS-Fairplay claim RMS Lübeck Schiffahrtsgesellschaft mbH changed name to Lübecker Schifffahrtsgesellschaft mbH in 2007 [but I am not convinced that this change is correct], (though note the extra "f", as on their website.

Certainly Rhein-, Maas- und See-Schiffahrtskontor GmbH changed name to Rhenus Maritime Services GmbH in 2012 (keeping the same RMS initials)

According to Lloyds list there are two companies at the same address, phones etc being RMS Lübeck Schiffahrtsgesellschaft mbH owning 8 vessels (http://directories.lloydslist.com/p/1715/searchchar/Rm/) and Lübecker Schifffahrtsgesellschaft mbH owning 1 vessel
(http://directories.lloydslist.com/p/1715/searchchar/Lu/). Presumably there is a connection, either associates or the latter could be a subsidiary, the former apparently being involved in ship operations [going by Lloyds] and the latter in chartering [out I take it] and agency work [as on their website]. With the number of vessels sporting this funnel I continue to fancy my first pick although charterers can always be involved though as the the funnel has been around for some time e.g. "San Remo" was photgraphed 5/2003 with it I would rate this more of an ousider possibility. Equasis show the manager for "San Remo"as being Lübecker Schifffahrtsges. mbH from 2002 and with "Tonja" they date them as being managers from 1995 whereas Lloyds give the managers in all cases as RMS Lübeck so the major sources are confusing the matter. I think a major point is the flag on the funnel and that is not that of Lübecker which is shown as a logo on the website and there is also a photo of it flying outside their office.

Most confusing. My lastest Lloyds detail is a couple of years old now but what they shOw as RMS Lübeck Schiffahrtsgesellschaft mbH is undoubtably Lübecker Schiffahrtsgesellschaft mbH at the same address and with the same phone. Their fleet on the website includes those with "D" suffixes which were previously shown Lloyds under Drabert Schiffahrts GmbH. Lübecker Schiffahrts state that they are in chartering and agency. I cannot work out whether this is a case of a company renaming or if both names have been used, why. This website seems to be new. I had assumed that the "RMS" meant a connection with Rhein-Maas-und-See Schiffahrtskontor GmbH and part of the Rhenus group. There are a few different funnels which I have found connected without explanation to RMS including this funnel mark but without the circle and I hoped there was a tie up to make one mystery solved. However it looks like back to digging

Lübecker Schifffahrtsgesellschaft mbH do have a website but it shows a different flag to the one displayed here.

Appears to be the funnel of RMS Lübeck Schiffahartsgesellschaft mbH of Lübeck who are described as being managers but are quite likely owners for these particular vessels. Most of the ships in their fleet - "San Remo", "Tonja", Lago II" and "Largona" have it with some slight variations to the tilt of the pole and whether the flag flaps.
