The Brazilian Navy abandonned the idea to convert the Itatinga into an auxiliary ship in 1986 and ordered a newlly built ship named Amirante Gastão Motta G23 (tanker). In the present fleet and the Itatinga was sold to breakers in 1987.

Renamed "Admiral Gaston Motta" in 1984 and stricken from register in 1987

She is certainly not in service. Conversion to Brazilian Navy Logistic Support Ship Admiral Gaston Motta (G29) was abandoned in late-1980s and vessel almost certainly scrapped.

I don't think that she's in service anymore. There are no actual photos of her on this site.
