@ rivanj
I'm glad you like this image which is coming from the past,, however ... it is a more than pleasing event that this Ship (ferry) is being with us even today,, *healthy* and in regular service !!!

@ Mark
LIBURNIJA was built in Netherlands under direct order from JADROLINIJA, Rijeka (newbuilding for Jadrolinija).

A small story:
Newbuilt LIBURNIJA arrived directly to Rijeka from the shipyard in Netherlands.
It was then my big privilege and great happyness to attend the additional sea trials that were executed during the first day upon her arrival to Rijeka.
On those additional sea trials I was the only guest/visitor invited/permitted onboard and I was then a small boy of age only 13.
Those performed additional sea trials were actually, in respect of the scope of their program, equal to the *Regular sea trials* i.e. consisted of Engines trials, steering gear trials, measurement speed-run on the *marked nautical mile*, etc, etc

With very best regards to you rivanj and Mark,
Jadran

@ Emmanuel
Yes,, maybe it's a good reminder Emmanuel ... I'm glad it brings back good memories.

However,, there exist certain difference between the two ferries: recognizable is the diversity in the design/appearance of each mentioned ferry (although the both ferries are of GT 3,900 tons) + ferry GHAWDEX was built at Bremen, Germany whilst ferry LIBURNIJA was built at Hardinxveld Giessendam, Netherlands.
LIBURNIJA is still active on her regular service route Rijeka – Dubrovnik – Rijeka, and just to mention that, she was previously also engaged on the service route Zadar – Ancona (Italy) – Zadar.

Thank you Emmanuel for your nice comment and moreover for the expressed indeed very kind words from You.
With all the best regards,
Jadran

Excellent shot! She was built for Jadrolinija or Jadrolinija bought her from another company?

Hi Jad, this vessel reminds me somehow of the Maltese ferry GHAWDEX which used to ply between Malta and Gozo in the 70s and early 80s.She sometimes also was used on the Malta to Sicily route. Glad to have you back on the site Jadran, courage ,and keep it up.
