Sorry Emmanuel, I'm in Norfolk, England just checking out the AIS. Selim San is the well-known photographer of Aliaga demolitions

Well davidships, have you got the opportunity to at least photograph her in her last days at Aliaga?

Hi rd77, it is indeed a very sad day when a ship ends her days on the scrapheap and when a beautiful ship such as this is scrapped is more than ever sad.

How very sad that she is heading for scrap after all. She was such a pretty thing.

HYPSAS arrived off Aliaga this evening.

Hi,Northkehdinger, the high price of scrap iron must have played a great part in her scrapping, I would have preferred her to be sunk as a divers spot ,at least she would serve as a an attraction for diving enthusiasts.Several vessels have these last years have thus ended their years afloat over here in Malta, but at least they are still in existence even though under the waves.

Hi Emmanuel.L
Thanks for your answer.Indeed sad news.I worked at this vessel as a Bosun back in 2002.I remember she was not in a good shape.Nice she got this extra years.
Anyway.Thanks

A sad answer to Northkehdinger question. This graceful vessel has been deemed not viable for conversion and so has been towed to Turkey for eventual scrapping. The tug HYPSAS Imo.7824558 towed this unfortunate vessel to her end at some Turkish shipbreaker yard.

Hi B.Clark , the siege bell is a monument to the victims of the Second Siege of Malta of World War II.commemorating all those gave their lives during those tragic times 70 rears ago.Daily at noon the bell is rung along with the firing of a gun from the Saluting battery beneath the Upper Baracca gardens.

Sorry my friend.I don't know, but I am very curious to get an answer to this question. It seems that she was towed out of harbour by two local tugs and presumably other/s took over.

Anyone has a idea what is the name of the Tug who towing her away ?

Hi Clive, yes it will be pity if she ends her days in some scrapyard, though built in 1963 she has a graceful look, worthy of a conversion to a yacht.

Sorry MichaelS,I do not have that info, will post relevant info if it comes to my knowledge.

She is such a pretty little vessel it would be a pity if someone did not see her potential for conversion into a private yacht.

Do you know where the ship was towed to?
