The Dannebrog, named after the flag of Denmark, was built in 1931–1932 at the Naval Dockyard in Copenhagen. HDMY DANNEBROG (A540) is operated by The Royal Danish Navy.

It is true that the “Dannebrog” looks like a steamboat. She looks like in its outer lines like the old royal yacht “Dannebrog”, which in fact was a paddle steamer.

As is often seen in the period between old and new technology, the outer design is hanging on for some years. But the “new” royal yacht “Dannebrog” is “born” as a motor yacht with B & W diesel engines.

Momentum of today is done by two B & W Alpha Diesel, 6T23L-KVO, each 870 HP.
