I believe she was the last coal fired deep sea ship on the Thames. You could actually see her from Free Trade Wharf rounding Blackwall Reach. Well the column of smoke that is rising way up in the sky :-D She was also involved in a diplomatic incident back in the 50's when she was stopped by two R.N. frigates in the thamnes Estuary with a suspected kidnapped Pole dissident aboard. Never a dull moment with the J.D." ;-)

For many years she was the other vessel on the London Gdynia run from Mark Browns wharf in the pool. Ran with BALTROVER initially then the BALTIC SUN and the BALTROVER was transferred to the Hull Gdynia run

Wonderful image of a lovely ship Ken.
She worked out of Ipswich towards the end of her career. Unfortunately my camera had no telephoto then so I did not get a shot. Great to se her again

Thanks Derek, she was involved with some illegal passengers on one trip and was stopped by the Police somewhere in the Erith area I believe, it was headlines in the press at the time.
