Description:
The 'Vera Cruz' sailing in the Lisbon harbour as a side attraction during the 1st Cruise Day Lisbon promoted by APL-Lisbon Port Authority.
VERA CRUZ is a replica of the caravels that discovered Brasil in 1500. It is owned and managed by APORVELA, the Portuguese association of sailing (www.aporvela.pt), a not for profit entity. It is used mainly as a didatic support for schools, both for the teaching of the History of sailing and of the Portuguese discoveries, as well as a sailing training vessel.
It was built in Portugal at the Vila do Conde shipyard in the year 2000 and it is entirely made of wood.
