The correction is correct!

To my eye the Iowa class battleships are the most graceful and beautiful of all naval ships. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. As an Army veteran I have a fondness for any ship that can deliver close in artillery support!

There are a lot of Army veterans such as myself who wish that today's Army still would have one of the Iowa class battleships sitting offshore for artillery support. Those 16 inchers could shot!

I believe the Iowa, which is in mothballs, may be made into a museum/tourist attraction as well. It has been the subject of some controversey as a "gay" group wants it as a memorial as one of the gunners who died in the turret explosion was gay. Other groups are opposed to this.

A similar battleship, the North Carolina, is preserved in North Carolina and I think there are photos of it on this site.

I was born on the day that Japan signed the surrender treaty on board the USS Missouri so I have always had a special place in my heart for that ship and visited it in Bremerton Washington.

Thanks for posting the photo

A little mistake that needs to be corrected here.
This is NEW JERSEY (BB-62) as s museum ship in Camden NJ just opposite Philadelphia on the Delaware River.
Her sister MISSOURI (BB-63) also a museum vessel is at Pearl Harbor some 6,000 miles to the west...
