Yes Clive is right. The STOCKHOLM got a new bow and 30 meters of new hull in 1956 after meeting ANDREA DORIA in fog. And guess what parts of the hull were in opoorest shape back in 1992 when she was stripped and rebuilt in Genova? The forward part added in Brooklyn in September to November 1956...

No, that prow did not slice through the Andrea Doria. The prow that did that was utterly destroyed in that collision (as you have doubtless seen in many photographs). The wreckage of Stockholm's original bow structure was all cut away and an entirely new bow was created.

A very pieceful scene today, but it is hard to believe that almost a lifetime ago, this prow sliced thru the lovely Andrea Doria, mrdot.
