Jürgen, Denis and Theo - thank you all for your comments and further explanations and memories:-)

Theo, in the 70s when I was a teenager me and my family used to travel around the harbor with these ferries, too, when we were visiting Hamburg (I grew up in a small town about 40 km southwest of Hamburg)...

Lovely boat, just like an old city bus - all smooth & curvy, classic windows, etc! Great shot, Jens!

Another super shot Jens!
I admire the owners of Tonne keeping her afloat and in service. The canopy arrangement.... new age design? light years away from the original harbour ferry design. Still, at least she is working. The anchor or ground gear arrangement: When she was built anchorng was certainly seen only as an emergency manoever. Just let them go... For heaving away there is certainly a windlass installed on the foredeck. To put it back in its place attached to the top bulwark just using the crane on the foredeck. And some manpower... A bit like the old square riggers.
Thanks for posting Jens

Thanks Jens. I will keep looking for her at my next Hamburg-visit. And I agree to Shaun. The canopy isn't fits to her, but she looks out very neat. Nice :)

Ok, I agree, in fact I prefer her without the canopy (her usual look when she was in service as a harbor ferry). The anchors in that position I like, though. Looks a bit like a mustache, Tonne's answer to AIDA's red lips maybe... :-)

I can't really place it, I think it may be the canopy on the stern, or the bow with its anchors in that position. I do really like her though!

Strange, Shaun? In which way?

Thank you, Marcus:-)

I must admit that this photo is my personal favorite of all the photos I took today. The light of the setting sun was gorgeous. (And she was built by Sietas):-)

As for her berth... hm... I think I have seen her berthed in Steendiekkanal, but I don't know if it's her usual place to berth...

Wow, fantastic the golden light, Jens! She looks shiny in the light. I have never seen the TONNE in Hamburg. Where is her berth (place to lie)?
