The SZAFIR is one of the (around) 20 freighters, built by Miho shipyard in Japan, for Far Eastern soviet shipping companies, beteween the end of the 80's and the beginning of the 90's. The vessel is leaving Bayonne on ballast. SHe came to unload exotic African timber. philippe-ships.com

Nice shot of one of the Japanese series of freighters. Many of them were in Spliethoff's fleet as L-type, even saw one of them myself - very nice looking ships (if colored properly).
