@ Phil
thanks that info
and impressive to see and realize that than a company like HAPAG wants to take over H-Sued. Perhaps finally to get some management who know what they doing.

Indeed the HHI yard is a massive prodiction facility churning out very large ships very frequently. However, what this picture really highlights is the very poor state of the liner shipping market. LEVERKUSEN EXPRESS and LUDWIGSHAFEN EXPRESS were both completed by HHI in 2013 but Hapag-Lloyd did not want them - they had enough capacity already. They agreed with HHI to delay delivery for 3-4 months and the ships sat at anchor in the meantime. This is what you see here. Two ships laid up without employment.

Yes you are right, looking at this well-functioning conveyor can only say: "Bravo, Korean shipbuilders!"

Fasnicating stuff. Evidence of the massive production ongoing at the HHI yard. I recently visited that yard and it really is like a machine. They deliver up to 7(!) very large ships each month. Current production mostly focuses on LNG carriers, drillships and large LPG carriers. There are some 13000 TEU standard ships for ENESEL still due (I was THALASSA DOXA, MANA and TYHI and an as-yet unnamed one in build) but otherwise containerships are less of a proirity for the yard at the moment.
