Launched in 1978 by Ulstein Hatlo A/S (Ulsteinvik - Norway) for Neptun Transport and Marine Service A/B (Sweden), this high-sea tug, former Neptun Gothia, is in service since march 1979. She is owned by Abeilles International, but is operated since the 14/12/1979 by the Marine Nationale. Her mission is to perform and secure the assisting operations in the maritime zones with an important trafic.
Based in Cherbourg until october 2005, her new operation region is the Cantabrian Sea. Ready in 20min., Abeille Languedoc departs once the winds are over 25knots. Abeille Languedoc's sister ship is the well-known Abeille Flandre: these vessels are classified within the 5 bigger and more powerful tugs of the world!
Dimensions: 63.45x14.74x6.90 m
L'Abeille Languedoc had performed, on the 31th of may 2005, 730 interventions in 25 ans, including:
* 101 lives saved;
* 140 vessels towed;
* 174 vessels escorted;
* 190 stand-by missions;
* 103 various intervensions;
* 117 intervention exercices.
