Indian Cyclone 9june1998, pic 1 Jetty prior storm, these are the pictures of the most devastating storm which had hit indian west coast on 9th June 1998 at 0900 hrs in the morning,
So severe was the storm that Barometric pressure went down to 943mb, and wind speed reached 147Nautical Miles Per Hour(almost 300Kms/hr) , which is highest recorded with all the ships in the area and speed may have gone higher as all the ship's and shore's anemometer broke....
These pictures were taken by myself while braving the storm all alone in radio control room, which was on the four piles of jetty and one of the pile was being hit by one of the tug started hitting the pillar with waves and wind,
storm started at 0600 hrs , eye passed above us at 0900 hrs and storm passed away at 1300hrs,
these pictures are of port of Vadinar basically to cater oil terminal (SBM)
i have tried to comparing shot of pre storm pictures and post storm pic,
while going thro old photo albums i found these pictures and i scanned it and putting here on the web for the firt time,
