Like many other fishing vessels from Bayonne(Pays Basque - France), she has been bought by spanish ship owners and refitted as a gill netter(cf. vessels operated by Ramberfra, Rhuz o Uxua SARL for example). But the story of this ship is older than her registration in Bayonne. In fact, everything started in Douarnenez(Brittany - France)...

Le Stiff was a semi-industrial trawler of the ACF(Armement Coopératif Finistérien). Launched in 1965 by SICCNA shipyards of St Malo(Brittany), she was registered in Douarnenez and later in Guilvinec(Brittany) during the 80's. As they met economic dificulties, the ACF and POB had to sell her to Bayonne in the beginning of of the 90's.

Operated by Bocarena SA, she was completely refitted as a gill netter and bought by the fishing company Ortegal SAS in the summer 2005.

- Special thanks to the son of Ortegal SAS's owner for the latter info! :-) -

Note: Former Names are: Le Stiff and Espoir du Marin

This beautiful Franco-Spanish netter is a former stern trawler called L'Espoir du Marin, that has been launched in 1965 by SICCNA from St Malo(Brittany - France). She mids 31.8m long and is powered with a 751hp engine.
