The famous composite three masted British Royal Research Ship 'Discovery' was launched from the Dundee Shipbuilders Company on March 21st 1901.

She was designed for the ravages of the Antarctic and carried two of Britain's famous explorers Robert Falcon Scott and Ernest Shackleton.

She arrived back to the place of her birth on the River Tay on April 3rd 1986 to a great welcome. She is seen in her own dedicated dock at Discovery Point in Dundee.
