'Kraken' is the research vessel of the ECIMAT-Estación de Ciencias Mariñas de Toralla, the marine research centre of the University of Vigo (Spain). It was named 'Kraken' by popular demand after a public contest. It bears hull registration 8ª-VI-5-02-13. Here spotted during the recent campaign of sonar cartography of the depths around the Islas Cíes (Ria de Vigo, Spain).
