Hi Vagabond! Generally you find the name of the ship on both sides of the bow and on the stern (with port of registration and (partly) the IMO Number) as per national and international law/rules (in Germany for example as per "Gesetz über das Flaggenrecht der Seeschiffe und die Flaggenführung der Binnenschiffe (Flaggenrechtsgesetz)" from 1951. The funnel marks showing the logo of the shipowner or managing owner but not the name of the ship. Hope this may help. Regards Peter

Hi Vagabond, Silversea is the company that owns and manages Silver Whisper and a couple of other cruise ships. :)

Forgive my ignorance, but why does the stern name detail Silver Spirit whilst the vessels name on the funnel/smoke stack reads Silversea? It's currently in Auckland and I saw only Silversea as I drove past but a photograph indicates 2 different names!
