KLIO was owned by Loucas Hadjiioannou (Troodos Shipping Co SA, Piraeus, Greece). At the time of mid '80s, Loucas Hadjiioannou was the biggest independent tanker owner in the world, and thus was nicknamed "the tanker king". His son Polys continues the heritage through Polyar Tankers.
