Thank you Dr Allan For clearing that up

I was referring to the fact that the picture was posted with the first 'A' missing from the ship's name - a typo that I note has been corrected now but which could have caused 'search' problems.

I agree with ChasB46 that she was called Duke of Llanerch-y-Mor, certainly when I photographed her around 1980. I guess that as she is not in the registers, she can be called what the owners wish. But, clearly the hull still shows her original name.

Maybe DR.Allan would like to come back and explain himself a bit better . He put Correct spelling not Correct name

You wonder if , as the Duke , she suffers official indifference while as a novelty billboard she is now "cool" enough for their approval ?

I tend to take the opinion that unless a ships name has been officially changed such that its registration document reflects that change, then it has not been renamed.

Marine Traffic has her as the DUKE OF LLANERCH Y MOR as does other websites so maybe like other ships that had the old name welded on if it was looked after and regularly painted the rusty old name would only be vaguely visible ?

Cheers, Dan.

I suppose the question should be asked: was the ships name officially changed, or was the new name something they merely put on a sign over the door?
I suspect the latter, therefore she still is Duke of Lancaster.

When it was "changed" into a fun/restaurant ship the name was changed to DUKE OF LLANERCH Y MOR. Perhaps this is what Allan is referring to. The fun ship project failed and that is why its in such a state of dis-repair.
