Mr.Dot,last voyage I made on "Fairness" with lumber on deck loaded at Nanaimo and Vancouver was in November 1983. Regards Biscay.

To Mr. Dots question,
yes, I am old enough having seen timber stowed like on the Azzurra. In Europe coasters stowed until the late 70ties timber cargo on deck. Quite common.
Not that long ago....

I see they made a custom walkway over all that lumber since it's taking the whole deck area. Nice!
