Hi Luis.
That is correct, I have to change "more than 40 years"
to "almost 40 years". Our first deep water pier was finished at that time.

FUNCHAL first cruised to Norway in the summer of 1976, so this 2014 season means she has been visiting those waters for 38 years. The present lifeboats are not the originals, which were nicer, in aluminium... She has changed a lot over the years but still looks very nice...

May be as I can clearly recall 1961 it has a different meaning to me ;-)

Except for the "balls" (domes?) on the top, she looks very 1961 to me. Even most of the the lift boats seems like 1961. Look at the beautiful angle of the masts! Danish built in 1961 she reminds me of the smaller Norwegian Coastal Express Liners built in the 1950 - 1960s.

But she has been reinvented so many times that somehow she doesn't seem like an oldie to me.
