Maintenance had been lacking on this ship for almost ten years, not surprising since most NNL vessels were manned by incompetents who'd purchased/been given their tickets from a friend or relative.
Like most facets of the Nigerian State, NNL was rotten to the core.

Before any painting a, good grit blasting is a must. Maintenance was surely lacking when this pic was taken.

Well designed and built ships, just abysmally managed and maintained. But that's West Africa for you.

Well named Denis: Dinosaur...! With an empty paint store.
I remember them well. Saw them until the mid eighties in many ports between North Europe and the Bonny River. They were impressive vessels.
