Dear Neil, dear Peter,

not only "bad" memories ... ! :-)
I started my career as shipping engineer in 1981 on this ships as an assistant.6 months / 3 times Mauritius / Antwerp... ist was a perfect time. Lots of time in the habours ... at that time. The ship was managed by Ahrenkiel / Hamburg.
Kind regards
Jan

Hello Neil , a truly sad story, and goes to show that not only good memoroes are attached to a ship.

Hello Pieter,
Thank you for posting this photograph which certainly brings back memories. A german friend of mine was Master of this ship and had been previously when it came to New Zealand as Columbus Capricorn. I believe the Owners were either Blumenthal or Reith of Hamburg. After leaving this ship my friend was accepted for the Hamburg pilotage but was killed in a road accident before he could take up the position.
thanks for posting.
Kind Regards,
NeilW
