General Electric geared turbine, 2 x Babcock & Wilcox D-type boilers, single propeller, designed shaft horsepower 8,500.
Builder: Western Pipe & Steel, Maryland.Yard# 121
BU: KAOHSIUNG 1973/10/18

Transiting Gatum Lake, Panama Canal.

Nice photo of an old Isthmian Lines C3. Most Isthmian Lines ships were named "Steel-something".

Note the deep draft. Photographed in the Gatun Lake, which is fresh water. The ship would ride a few inches higher out of the water once she got back out into salt water.
