Hi,

this is already an "advanced" version of the original Stuelcken Design. The cargoblock swings on the side from fwd to aft and vice versa. The forkstyle top of the boom was the original design.

Don't know, but I think the derrick was produced in licence by an US yard. German built derricks mostly have another "top design" of the heavy cargo mast like this one. The top looks like a fork or an U.

Excellent photo - one of seven sets of derricks on this big American general cargo ship - but no Stulcken forward of bridge!
Would these have been fabricated at the yard to Stulcken blueprints or shipped over complete to Newport News?
