Description:

The locally (Ambelaki) built LION OF PIRAEUS, started in 1973 but not completed until 1980 (as CHARITOMENI and then soon renamed) is seen anchored in Piraeus Roads on 2nd October 1984 being prepared to recommence trading.

She had been laid up at Eleusis on 25th February 1983 and proceeded to voyage to Africa but ran aground on 21st October 1985 at Farquhar Island, Seychelles, during a voyage from West Africa to India and became a total loss.
