This tug was originally USNS NARRAGANSETT (T-ATF 167) built by Marinette Marine Corp. In 1999 she was taken out of service and allocated to the Supervisor of Salvage, as part of an ongoing program to loan Navy vessels to commercial salvage operators to subsidize the quality of their readiness assets. This vessel was loaned to DonJon Marine, who continue to operate her, but at present she appears to be under the direction of the Naval Air Systems Command.
