The Canadian Navy destroyer-escort in the background is TERRA NOVA (DDE-259) shown as newly modernized with ASCROC and lattice mast.
Can't make out the Coast Guard buoy tender.

Thanks both. I saw her also under the name PRINCESS of NANAIMO at the same spot. Will have a post eventually. I probably made the ferry crossing on her but I do not remember. That's 45 years ago. On the other hand, I quite remember having travelled on the second PRINCESS of ACADIA when owned by CP and later on also when owned by Bayferries. I have several postcards in my collection.

Rene,.....Nice photo of Saint John waterfront (with Pugsley terminal and grain elevator in the background). That area of the waterfront now home to Marco Polo and Diamond Jubilee Cruise terminals. I remember this old gal in the early 1960's shuttling between Saint John-Digby, at which time her berth was located at the foot of King Street (as depicted in your photo). In the mid 70's the old ferry landing and accompanying warehouses were demolished to make way for the Market Square shopping complex and Hilton Hotel. The ferry berth was relocated to West side of harbour. The Current PRINCESS OF ACADIA (IMO7039567) about to be replaced with recent purchase of BLUE STAR ITHAKI (IMO9203916),renamed CANADA 2014 for her voyage overseas and is now in Halifax undergoing modifications prior to beginning her run between Saint John & Digby (March/April?).
