Description:

The C2 class Exiria at the Longue Pointe Anchorage in the mid sixties. Built in 1942 at Bath, ME by Bath Iron Wks Corp.
5 June 1968, arrived at Valencia to be broken up.

The EXIRIA went aground on Isle Rouge Bank, in the St-Lawrence river on June 23 rd 1967. The investigation concluded the accident was caused by excessive speed in zero visibility and blamed both the pilot and the master.

Isbrandtsen Steamship Company.

For those of you who are interested in shipping history.

Hans Isbrandtsen, owner of American Export-Isbrandtsen Lines, was the cousin of mighty Arnold Peter Møller (A.P. Moller), the shipping magnate who formed the great Maersk Line.
