Description:

The AURORA was originally WAPPEN VON HAMBURG, but was replaced by a newer vessel by that name and sold to Greek owners. She was picked up for the Alaska run in 1967 and has been on the U. S. West Coast ever since. Since being sold by Park West Childrens Fund, various groups have intended to re-use her for charity or business uses, most recently as an ocean liner museum, to be named AURORA.

My original description above contained some mistakes.
Here is what I believe has been her history since her last passenger sailing:
1978 XANADU Aleutian Islands Seafood Company (Pan) for use as a barracks barge at Dutch Harbor AK
1980 XANADU Pan-Aleutian Seafoods Corp and put under U.S. Flag (ON 620939)
198_ EXPEX Xanadu Cruise Ship Inc (US) for use as floating expo ship
1990 OCEANIC Project Hospital Ship Oceanic Inc (Tom Keegan), Los Angeles (US)
199_ FAITHFUL Park West Children’s Fund (US), for use as Missionary & Hospital Ship
199_ FAITHFUL Friendships (Same basic organization as PWCF). Under California State License as CF1143SE
(Various owners and legal difficulties after that)
2009 AURORA Christopher Willson (reportedly for use as an ocean liner museum)

I must have seen her as Wappen von Hamburg on special short cruise from Holmestrand in the Oslofjord, Norway, late in the 1950s or in 1960. At that time, it was a huge ship for me (as young boy).

Wouldn't have thought that the just oldest of the three "Wappen von Hamburg" survived until now.
