Yes Mike,, the containership GUDRUN MAERSK is 368 mtrs in length ....... the width of the view that is seen on this photo is the max. available width where the ship in full length (shot in profile) can fit into the photo ( just a bit forward of the ship's bow is a skyscraper and just a bit aft of the ship's stern is a shore container crane ) ..... if the ship was longer for only 10 mtrs it would not fit with it's full length (shot in profile) into the available width of the unobstructed view that I have on disposal (that's my big misfortune !!! ).

Thank you Mike for your kind comment and the Like;
Greetings from Rijeka,
Jadran

You are right David (echobow),, this image is a 'composition full of a certain atmosphere' (unfortunately it is a rainy greyish mood, but that is also 'one option' with which we live).
Fortunately to be,, bright sunny weather is coming again to Rijeka within the second half of next week (with forecast of temperatures already up to 30°C !??? ).

Thank you David for your 'richly expressed' comment, and I especially like what you thereas said "twenty seconds to open yourself to it by examining" ..... hmm, shows a creative personality !
Cheers & all the best,
Jadran

...very nicely composed photo of a big 10 year old Maersk carrier with views to a far off coast line and I see a smallish MSC box boat in the middle distance..gets a like from me.

Indeed, another great photograph Jadran. I especially like the atmosphere which derives from the shot when you take some twenty seconds to open yourself to it by examining the photo at full screen.

Regards, David

P.S. You should make a call if one of the mansions in the foreground will be eventually for sale. One could open a prospering shipspotter hostel :-)

Hello Patagualino, it's nice to hear from you again !
Maybe one day you move close to the sea,, who knows what the future tells ..............
Kind regards
Jadran

PS
Each round trip of the containership on the service Far East – North Adriatic – Far East lasts for exactly 70 days ... therefore, if any Officer on watch (OOW) waves to me from the ship's bridge portside wing I shall certainly keep you posted about such event !!! ....... (who knows, might even happen !?? hehehe)

Hi Clyde, I use a tripod of 1,60 m height ... so I can hold umbrella in my left hand and click the camera's shutter button with my right hand (however, the rain must be only slight i.e. drizzle,, not to be heavy rain or showers in any case !!! ).
Greetings from Rijeka to You and Sydney
Jadran

PS
It somehow appears,, that my photo opus on Shipspotting is also a Photo documentation of weather conditions on North Adriatic ( and the 'photogenic' ships that are in the main role make the images to look attractive & interesting ! )

Hi Jadran...thanks for another super photo...I must say though, I am rather envious of your "view from the Balcony".(With or without your umbrella), us in-landers are somewhat subdued by your vantage point....we can only dream....
(I'm only surprised the OOW was not on the Port Wing waving at you!)

Great Jadran, it seems that the view from BOTA (Balcony Over The Adriatic) is a bit gloomy, with storm clouds, a bit different from the morning sunshine. Best regards for this special day from an ex-dockyard worker to another (and also others)

This holiday day of May 1st – International Workers' Day started at Rijeka with a beautiful bright sunny morning and in the afternoon it turned unfortunately to dark grey clouds & rain; heavy rain is still expected to come during night.

And ... certainly yes ... I shot this photo from my apartment balcony, in the late afternoon,, and holding umbrella above my head & camera !

Thank you Jim and Brett for your comments,, being for me much exciting to read each one of them,, highly appreciated & thank you very much once again;
Greetings from Rijeka
