Reading the somewhat bizarre story contained in davidships link below, it has the makings of a full length drama/suspense motion picture. And of all places, little old saint john new brunswick mentioned in the sequence of events.

@ davidships: Understand that in summer 1958 the master "collected all the wooden hatch covers of the ship and used them as a fuel for the boilers. The ship reached the port safely and unaided." as per Haifa National Maritime Museum. Thanks.

Sold by Isthmian to M Dizengoff & Co (Shipping) Ltd (Heinz Graetz), Haifa
Later Graentz sold the company and its ships to Zim.

Fire onboard? Photo looks like if there where some fire in the area of hatches 3 and 4. Maybe smoke coming from the hatches and the side plates are damaged. Any idea what happened?
