Description:
Passing Battery Point fifty years ago today, inbound for Avonmouth with a cargo of grain from Detroit, is the DEALMOUTH, managed by Denholm on behalf of Federal Commerce and Navigation Co Ltd of Montreal.
Built in 1949 at Haverton Hill as the tanker ELEONORA MAERSK, she became JANINA in 1958 and was in 1960 converted into a dry bulk carrier named SEAWAY STAR.
Trading as DEALMOUTH between 1962 and 1966, she then became the Greek managed FRIEDA, in 1978 LISBOA, in 1982 THEOFILOS and then LAMBROS L. before arriving at Aliaga in August 1982 for breaking, a process which is reported to have taken until 1984 to complete.
