Description:

The 1952 Lubeck built GLORIA was a frequent visitor to Portishead Dock in the 1960s, bringing cargoes of phosphate rock from Boca Grande, Florida, to be processed at the Albright & Wilson's phosphorus works.

Here is a photograph of GLORIA passing Battery Point fifty years ago today. Built for Bremer Reederei Merkur GmbH of Bremen, she had been purchased in 1961 by Belfranline S.A. of Antwerp but not renamed.

Later: 1967 BELLORIA (Greek owned but occasionally again calling at Portishead)

Later: 1973 PINA I and then ARISTOTELES

She was wrecked on 11.11.77 on voyage from Ploce to Bar with timber, refloated in June 1979 and broken up at Split
