More information has now come to light. This is DEFINITELY IMO 9636905 - hull JEHIC10-040. She was sold at a court auction on 27/2/2018 by creditors of the bankrupt JES shipyard to another shipyard in the Yangtze Delta area who will complete and offer her for re-sale after finishing sea trials, estimated in 5/6 months.

I think so, David. It's a Kamsarmax and not the 95k that I also speculated about. Sadly I've never been able to find a launch date.

Hull 10-812 was launched on 25/6/2014 and was still at the yard when JES ceased operations. As far as I know it's still there, somewhere. Zhong Chang 288/298 are unrelated, being built by Zhejiang Qinfeng Shipyard in 2012 and to a different handymax design - Hangzhou Modern ZMSD 42K Domestic as opposed to SDARI 47.5K Yangtzemax for the JES ship.

I think that your preferred ID is right, Phil.

Does this match?
Any idea of launch date.

And I wonder what happened to Yd JEHIC10-812, handymax, launched 25/6/2014 and completing for Zhoushan Zhongchang Shipping? Could she have been completed as QINFENG 18/ZHONG CHANG 288 (BKUZ6, MMSI 412765470) or ZHONG CHANG 298 (BKVA6, MMSI 412765480) - they are noted as 190 x 30m, but cannot find build year.

The bow logo is that of Greek owner Blue Planet Shipping Ltd (London office: Victoria Steamship Co.). and the shipyard is Jiangsu Eastern Shipyard (JES Holdings) This is either IMO 9736779 - a 95,000 dwt post pananamx bulker. Or, perhaps more likely, JES hull 10-040 (IMO 9636905), a kamsarmax, which was abandoned by her original owners and re-sold by JES (no reports of Blue Planet buying her, but they bought a sistership in a similar situation...)

However, JES have now gone into receivership and all shipbuilding has stopped. It's likely that there will be further complications regarding the ownership and delivery of the vessels at their yard and a positive ID on this one may be a long time coming.

Brgds
Phil
