Looks pretty good, (and I like the initals on the Princimar funnel...) Clear skies are all that is needed, exiv data look really normal, and 1/500 seems to work on 600 mm. Sitting in the car and putting the lens on the door window should be enough.

@pieter - the PRINCIMAR CONFIDENCE was further out and required about 600. Monopods would never give me a steady image and I simply rest the lens on top of the car, AIS does the rest. At the end of the day the seeing conditions have to be very good to get good distance photos.

Have you already posted shots with 600 mm? Can you manage that without a monopod? I assume the crop factor of a 50D is still 1.6 so in goold old terms you are using a 960 mm lense. And for those less into cameras, good ones can easily be used with high ISO values up to 1000 or even, without affecting the image quality too much.

.... and an absence of the usual year-round North Wales heat haze!

@PHa...dead on - I was about to post that!
The Canon 50D and the 70D are special because they have the AFMA correction facility - absolutely essential for long lens work.

Good gear: Canon EOS 50D with a lens of focal length of 429 mm (!), f 7,1 at 1/1000 sec.

Hi Mike, that is one hell of lense you are using there. Happy with the results so far?
