The most prevalent illegal activity on the lake, aside from recreational boaters crossing the border, is the smuggling of illegal aliens from Canada to the U.S, and also smuggling drugs across the border. These activities occasional make for some very interesting times on the lake to the extent that watching the Border Patrol has become a spectator sport.
