Description:

Decomissioned ex-Russian submarine "Foxtrott" (Zulu-class) at a permanent berth at NDSM haaven Amsterdam. Spotted from a regular harbour ferry on 21.07.2015.

Built 1952 - 1955 at Severodvinsk.
Dimensions: 90.5 x 7.5 x 5 m
Displacement: 1830 tons (surfaced), 2600 tons (submerged)
Speed (surface/submerged) 18/16 knots
Crew Size 75

Haha Jens, you're definitely right. The moment I caught sight of her I felt immediately reminded of the old Hamburg submarine. At least, this one graces the spotter with some colourful street art graffiti;)

Her exterior does not look much better than the exterior of the old submarine here at Hamburg, but nevertheless it's an interesting photo.

Sorry, think I got you wrong on the first glance. "Foxtrot" (with only 1 "t" - my mistake) is just the name of this individual boat, received as it was already decomissioned and had arrived to Amsterdam port.

Hi asnyk. You're right, project number is 611. "Zulu-class" however is the codename given by the NATO. On Wikipedia, there's always talk of the "Zulu-class" that's why I added this name to the description.

That's not happiest name, Zulu and Foxtrott are different types (611 and 641). This is a former B-69 (later B-80), project 611.
