Description:

Antsiranana (Diego-Suarez), February 27th 1991.
JAYALAKSHMI / IND / 1960-Visakhapatnam / 3332 gt / IMO 5170757 / 117.38 x 16.08 m / 3190 hp
From 'Modern Shipping Disasters' (Norman Hooke) :
"On August 15, 1974, while berthed at Port Qaboos, Muscat, a fire broke out in tne No.1 hatch due to leakage of sulphuric acid cargo loaded in the hatch. When the fire spread after smouldering for some days, the vessel was moved from the quay and beached at Wadi Sifah, about 20 miles south of Muscat, the following day. The JAYALAKSHMI, which as been on voyage from Indian ports to Khorramshahr with a 3500 ton general cargo, was declared to be a constructive total loss. She was subsequently refloated and removed to Bandar Jissah, near Muscat, before eventually being towed to Diego-Suarez in April 1976, where she was converted in non-propelled floating storage barge."

I cannot find the date when she sank in the harbour.
