Owned by late Vassos Hadjiioannou (Alassia Steamship, London and Piraeus, Greece). Vassos Hadjiioannou was the brother of late Loucas Hadjiioannou (Troodos Shipping, Piraeus, Greece), the so called "Tanker King" of the '80s). The purchase of Pelopidas at a very low price in early 1986, just before the market recovery in late 1986 made her a very profitable investment for the company.
