Wrong category. Its not actually a drill ship. Maybe a support vessel would be a better designation. Its actually a Drilling tender barge. Its purpose is to be moored next to a fixed platform. Once there it will provide various functions to enable drilling to take place from the platform. This include the capability to transfer and erect a drilling rig on the platform. Electrical power, the supply of drilling fluids for the well to be drilled, this includes the capability of preparing the drilling fluid. The high and low pressure pumps to circulate the drilling fluids. High pressure cementing pumps to pump cement as each section of the well is cased and completed. All equipment required for drilling. Craneage to transfer drilling equipment, accomodation for the drilling crew. The tender barge is designed to be moored next to the platform, using an eight point mooring system, which is designed for water depths ranging from 50 ft to 400 feet. The tender drilling barge is only suitable for use in areas not subjected to bad weather.
