It's probably classified as a Research/survey Vessel, so it can gain easier access to places that a motor yacht can't e.g. Antarctica. It is also set up to do Research work though.

Wouldn't we all ! But those lifeboats certainly caught my eye. They look plain weird. Almost like the type of boat we used to play with in the bath. We've all done it !!!
