The sailing vessel 'Sagres' of the Portuguese Navy docked at the Santa Apolónia passenger pier during the Portuguese Navy's Day, and open for visits by the general public.
This is a traditional rig sailing ship. "SAGRES" has been the school ship of the Portuguese Navy for more than 50 years. Built in Germany in 1937, she was purchased from Brazil in 1962 to replace an earlier schooner, meantime dismantled. "SAGRES" is an operational military ship for all purposes (NRP).
