In spite of overcapacity in the market place Perhaps it's the precious cargo below the waterline making this voyage a money maker :-)
BTW... Great shot Jens.

Jens,,, yes,, also that,,but when one thinks that Maersk for example sold already big chunks of what they owned (tanker fleet comes to mind) in order to finance the mega boxers. I read an article in the shipping magazine SEATRADE where it was said that at that time rates falling short by $16 a TEU, then one can imagine how all of them making nothing else then minus. Big companies, incl Maersk may go belly up over that n the rather short run. And guess who pays to safe them,,,right the taxpayers in the respective countries

Hehe, yes, I think so, too, Clyde. Divine assistance isn't necessary in this case.

Theo, I can't help thinking that building these ever bigger mega boxers isn't strategy. Keep the cargo rates low and finally see who has the greatest persistence...

Well,,, all those companies with those mega boxers facing more and more problems for the sole reason that they building bigger and bigger ships and producing by that more over capacity.

Good morning/evening Jens. I have a feeling that the mighty Maersk will get by without specific Divine assistance. But I am sure it will be pleased to note your hope.

I'm hoping and praying that Maersk will survive this unprofitable transport, Clyde:-))

Thanks for taking the time to write such a nice comment!

Beautifully done Jens.

But not a very profitable load for the owner. Sorry, once a Bean Counter always a Bean Counter.

Hi Cornelia and Antonio, thank you both for your compliments, they're much appreciated:-)

Yes, Cornelia, we did it again (though this time just Sascha and me). But as always it was a nice change from the usual Hamburg shipspotting.

David, thank you very much!:-)

Yes, it was a very nice trip. Three days of sunshine at the Maasvlakte and a lot of ships. Made about 700 photos, there was nothing left to be desired.

Cheers,
Jens
