A rare photo indeed.
This is KINGS POINTER, the former Artemis-class attack transport USS DEVOSA (AKA 27), built by Walsh-Kaiser Co, Providence RI in 1944.

In 1946 she became the first of the training ships with that name at the United States Merchant Marine Academy, Kings point NY. In December 1946 she set out on a training cruise to the Caribbean and Rio de Janeiro. On her return in Feb 1947, she was considered to large and unsuitable for purpose, returned to the US Maritime Administration and laid up until scrapped in 1966.
