Thanks Bjorn, people are quick these days..now that you mention it, I remember having seen pictures of the Calandrini with a gaping hole in her bow.

16 August 1980: The Polish freighter Kopalnia Myslowice collides with Brazilian Calandrini in the southern North Sea. The SL 16 was only 15 miles away and was soon on the spot. The Pole had a big hole on the starboard and made water more than two and the engine room. She was loaded with cement and en route from Poland to Laos. A large part of the crew, two children and six women had already left the ship and were taken aboard by the Calandrini.
The Smit-Lloyd 16 closed LOF and took the crew and passengers of the Valandrini drag on and made fast to the stern of the Kopalnia Myslowice. The heavy howling Pool was towed to Rotterdam and there acquired by NRS ships.
