In my view , the mast sited a bit aft ,attached to the front part of the funnel would have produced a more pleasing effect, but mind you its those domes which are more or less giving her a less pleasing look....see her photos just 3/4 front, they look like kids balloons on a string.....but can she be without them? ..I don't think so.

All the pictures of Paloma on this site show her with this mast arrangement and all pictures that I have seen of her elsewhere are the same. I would suggest that, given the beautiful curving shape of the mast and the way in which it relates to the over all design of the yacht, that this is in fact her original mast. She looks very much a product of her time, the mid 1960s - think of the way in which she looks and then consider cruise ships such as Oceanic or Italia.

I agree - it would be interesting to see a photo when new, in pre-dome days - I suspect a different mast.

Hmm Calant, yes a good observation, being installed just above the bridge, the mast must be constructed of very light material, as to the position , yes it is a bit forward, just touching the front part of the funnel could also make it a more balanced affair...this is my (an ex-dockyard worker of 72 years)...... 5 cents worth or even less?.
thanks and regards

After all those compliments, one tiny remark:
That signal mast looks ridiculously topheavy and is installed
at the wrong location.....should have been behind the funnel.
Just my 5 cents ....I am only a mariner.

I second that opinion Clive. A beautiful ,well balanced design of 50 years ago. Regards.
